Mortal Kombat: Rewriting the Past

So, I was shopping at GameStop the other day after getting paid from my last drill week with my unit, and I couldn’t for the life of me find what I wanted to get. Nothing seemed to stand out for me, until I looked behind the counter (and for the note, I DON’T go shopping as often as I would like to), and in that nice display case of just released games I found what I wanted: Mortal Kombat. I rushed to my brother’s Mustang after buying the game, forgot to get the number 7 value meal from Burger King like I was promising myself to do next door, slammed the gearshifter into first gear, and nearly burnt out in the parking lot just to get home.

20 minutes later, I took out the case, sliced through the plastic wrapping, and popped the disc in. From then on, I was loving life. I grew up on Mortal Kombat, and I first played it when I was… in the 3rd grade? Maybe 4th? It’s been a long while, let’s just say that, but as I played every one from the first to the last (Armageddon), it started to grow more dull. Side-stepping (lame), easy Fatalities, like the stage ones, were getting harder, every character had two fighting styles and a weapon style which made EVERYONE unbalanced… and the most stupid of all characters that were re-hashes of two old ones mixed! To say the least, it was horrible as each one after UMK 3 came out. But this new one, the 9th game of the series, but only called Mortal Kombat, definitely lived up to its height in going back to its roots.

Opinion: DLC isn't the devil
